Bad timing

So I know I JUST posted about my new job, and now I am going to post about my unemployment. Yes folks, that's right. I had a job for a month. Through a massive convergence of bad timing I am now a stay at home mom full time once again. The short of it is I was the cover person, I didn't get sick days, family emergency days, paid time off, or anything of the like. So with RAT's illness as of late, more on that later, I have had to call off three days in my first month of employment. Being a good mom, sadly, is frowned upon when it prevents you from attending work, and rightfully so. Luckily I saw that it was not going to end well and I suggested my job and I part ways. This is fortunate because due to my thought I am eligible for rehire in 6 months. If I had missed one more day, which would have been today with RAT still running a fever, I would have been terminated and there would have been no going back later. Sad as I am, because I REALLY LOVED my job, it is just not the right time for me to have a job.

If Mr. T was still unemployed this would not have been an issue, if my schedule had leveled off and I was only working weekends (as was my eventual plan any way) it would not have been an issue, if my 2 year old had not had a fever off and on for the last two weeks, preventing him from going to childcare, it would not be an issue. However ALL of those things were a huge cluster fuck of a problem, so I once again find myself a stay at home mom. And really I am pretty ok with that. Everything happens for a reason and I suppose there are other things I am meant to do this year that are not working for a paycheck.

What's new?

So Mr. T and I are both employed, that's new. RAT had his second Birthday and MAT's 5th is a matter of days out, as well as two other folks birthdays who are going to be 28, though we won't talk about them right now. RAT was ill on his birthday, seriously when can we get a holiday or birthday where no one is sick around here. A trip to urgent care and a diagnosis of left lung pneumonia and two ear infections and home we went antibiotics and a cranky kiddo in tow. MAT was very thoughtful about what present to give his brother. He finally settled on a big red ball and a sand toy accessories pack. It cracked me up at how much thought he put into the gift.

MAT is super stoked about his birthday and mine. I think he finally realizes that we share a birthday and that is pretty cool. Can't believe 5 is right around the corner. We will be heading to Kindergarten round up soon, and starting swim lessons this summer. Wow, when MAT is 5 he can be in 8 and under...

In other family news. Watermelon, the beautiful dear, had to be declawed. I feel bad, I think it is a cruel and nasty thing to do to a cat. However, when a cat destroys the carpet in THREE, yes THREE rooms and then turns her attention to a favorite newly recovered rocking chair to shred, something has to be done. And for everyone's info, the carpets aren't just a little messed up, there are 8x8 inch sections completely pulled up and frogged out. They are beyond repair and will have to be replaced. So in loo of replacing more carpets and furniture and in place of a dead cat, $130 and a little kitty pain is well worth it to this moma.

We currently have 2 broody moma ducks, one Ancona and one Muscovy, sitting on a combined 20 something eggs. It is a little early in the year for a hatch, but they were both so bound and determined to sit, I decided to let them. Any way who wouldn't want little duckies running about by Easter. If we can get the turkey and geese housing worked out I will be at peace and ready for those little fluffy butts to arrive.

So life is going well. I hope to be a less sporadic writer than I have been the last few months, but we shall see how that goes.

Where am I?

Well I can answer that, working. Yes folks I got a job. I started the first of February and love it. I am working at the local hospital, if you know where I live than add the name of my town before "Hospital" and you know where I work. It has been crazy busy around here. My first week was packed full of busy work and stress partly because Mr. T also went back to work! Weee! So we are now a two income family, yes that's right, we went from NO income to TWO in a matter of days. It is very busy and very little is getting done around the house. But we have worked our schedules out so that Mr. T and I get to see each other and theboys, and the boys only have to spend a few hours in childcare a couple days a week. I am working most every weekend and the job is very hard, but totally worth it. And I won't work every weekend, but for now it is the way to go.

My first day I saw it all. I was called every name in the book (and I think it was a George Carlin book if you get my drift), scratched, pinched, someone pooed in my (gloved) hand, someone vomited in the hall, someone cried and begged to go home, I had a conversation with someone who supposed I was their sister and it was 1922, and someone passed away. And that was just the first day. Every day is an adventure and alot of work, but it is really fun. I still love being a mom the most of any job I have ever had, but I think being a Nurses Aid will be the hardest PAYING job I will ever love.
